Revolution (Earth)

• Remind the learners that they should know by now that every planet revolves Around the Sun.
• Every planet has its own orbit [pathway].
• It is correct to say that planets orbit the Sun and the Earth orbits around the Sun.

• Ask the learners to practically demonstrate with their bodies individually and then as a class:
• Revolution
• Rotation

• Space is needed so it can be done on the sport field / quad / etc.
• Individual learners use different body parts to demonstrate:
  • Revolution [Two learners work together.  One learner stands on the same spot while the second learner walks in a wide circle around the first learner.  The second learner is revolving around the first learner  who stands still in the middle.  In the same manner the Earth revolves around the Sun.
  • Rotation [Learners spin around in circles, but remain standing on the same spot with their arms stretched out. In the exact same way the Earth rotates on its axis.

An example:

• One learner is standing on one spot, while the other learner is spinning [rotating] around his/her classmate.
