After the completion of Topic 4 the learners will be able to:

  • Explain how fossil fuels such as oil, coal and natural gas are formed.
  • Know where mains electricity comes from.
  • Understand why electricity is expensive and what they can do to save electricity.
  • Examine labels of electrical appliances to discover how much power each one requires.
  • Determine which appliances use more energy and elaborate why.
  • Distinguish the difference between renewable and non-renewable energy resources.
  • Research renewable ways to generate electricity, e.g. solar panels, wind power and hydro-electric power generators.
  • Understand why illegal connections are a danger to people.
