• Explain that the reason we have day and night is because the earth spins around its own axis.
• Describe how earth moves in space around the sun.
• Define an orbit as the earth’s path through space around the sun.
• State the number of days in a year i.e. the number of times the earth turns around its own axis while orbiting the sun.
