Uses of Metals

• Metals are used to make things such as coins, wire, jewellery, furniture, buildings and bridges, motor cars, kitchen utensils, roofs.

• Show and discuss Presentation 2.
• Hand out Worksheet B and allow learners to complete it.
• Show Video Clip 2 (5:57 minutes).  

The video provides an overview on the use and history of metals.

• Show Video Clip 3 (4:29 minutes). 

The video provides a short introduction to Silver, Gold, and Platinum group metals. It demonstrates the wide variety of uses  that touch the public in everyday life.

• Hand out Worksheet C and allow learners to complete it.

• Learners complete Quiz 1 in class.

• Quiz 2 may be completed in class or given as homework, depending on availability of time.
