Planning Tools Gr 5

The Term Planner will allow you to keep track of topics started and completed during the course of a particular term.

The planner contains a checklist of all the topics, including content and concepts (“sub-topics”) to be covered during the term.

A suggested number of hours  within which to cover each concept is included.

Space is provided to schedule the start date of each topic and to record the dates of completion.

A Daily Plan is available for each  topic (as per CAPS).

The same Daily Plan may be used for up to 3 natural science classes in the grade.

The following information has already been captured on the template-

• Topic
• Content and Concepts
• Time allocation per concept
• Suggested Activities
• Equipment and Resources
• Assessment criteria
• Processes and Design skills
• The design of the template thus requires minimum writing input by the teacher.

Space is provided to enter the following information-

• References to be used (e.g. applicable texbook and page
• Other references or props (e.g. magazines)
• Learner Homework
• Space to capture details of each class taught:  Class;  date of lesson and reflection (for example, if the teacher was unable to complete the lesson, where the lesson should start next time).
