Introduction
- Choose one of the following songs as an introduction:
- Show Video Clip 2: Kinetic and Potential Energy (easy tune – sing along). (2:00 min.).
- Show Video Clip 3: What is Kinetic and Potential Energy? (a roller coaster is used as an example). (1:22 min.).
Teacher Input 4
- Ask the learners if they know why and how energy is changed.
- Listen to their answers, but do not tell them who was right or wrong.
- Show Video Clip 4: Changes in Energy. (1:39 min.).
- Now their answers can be compared to the video clip’s information.
- Ask the learners to group themselves according to their interests (e.g. sport codes; singing; drawing; dancing; etc.)
- Present an overview of potential and kinetic energy in mechanical systems by using Presentation 4: Potential and kinetic energy in mechanical systems.
