Term 4 Topic 3 Uses of Sedimentary Rock

Sedimentary rocks have many different uses in our daily lives by industries and producers.

• Show/discuss Presentation 2.
• Review PowerPoint 2 – section on Different Types of Sedimentary Rock.

• Hand out Fact Sheet 2 and let learners read and understand it.
• Divide learners into 3 groups:
  • Group 1: list the uses of shale.
  • Group 2: list the uses of limestone.
  • Group 3: list the uses of sandstone.

• Show Video 2.  This video shows a church that is built  using sandstone and that has a roof made of slate.

• Each learner must report back on their lists from the previous activity. (they could make it fun by presenting the list as a rhyme!).
• Learners must then complete Worksheet C.
